THE NEW REGULATION BY SINGAPORE CUSTOMS REGARDING ADVANCE CARGO INFORMATION SUBMISSION.

The New Regulation By Singapore Customs Regarding Advance Cargo Information Submission

According to the “amended Free Trade Zone regulations effective from March 2024, starting from September 1, 2024”, cargo owners will be required to submit information about cargoes being exported, imported, or transshipped to Customs before the cargo arrives at the port.

According to the Free Trade Zone regulations, cargo owners are required to submit information about imported goods for long-haul transactions 12 hours before the vessel arrives at the port in Singapore, and for domestic transactions, before the vessel departs the port.

For export cargo, the information must be submitted to Customs within 24 hours after the vessel leaves the port.

Failure to comply with these regulations will result in heavy fines and serious repercussions for shipping lines. Singapore Customs will review cases of missing, late, or inaccurate shipping data on a case-by-case basis to determine the reasons for non-compliance and impose appropriate penalties.
