BINH DINH PROPOSES PLANNING PHU MY PORT TO ACCOMMODATE SHIPS UP TO 150,000 TONS
The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province has proposed that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) adjust the planning for the Phu My port area. According to the plan approved by the Prime Minister, Binh Dinh Port is classified as a Type I port, including the Quy Nhon – Thi Nai, Nhon Hoi, and Phu My port areas.
The MOT has approved certain adjustments to the planning criteria for the Phu My port area, including relocating it from My An and My Tho communes to Hoai My commune in Hoai Nhon District. The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province has also requested that the Phu My port area be added to the national seaport system plan.
Under Binh Dinh Province’s 2021–2030 development plan, with a vision toward 2050, the Phu My port area will be split into the Phu My port area and the Hoai Nhon port area. However, the Prime Minister’s comprehensive plan for developing Vietnam’s seaport system for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, does not include adjustments for the seaports in Binh Dinh Province.
To attract more investment, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province has urged the MOT to propose that the Prime Minister consider adjusting and including the Phu My port area in the master plan for Vietnam’s seaport system for 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050.
